For the Imperial Guard army is there anything you need to do extra to make sure that the units can "ride" in a Chimera or Valkyrie or can they just "get in"???
There are several easy ways to make sure that a Imperial Guard squad can mount in a chimera, you can buy them a chimera as a troop transport. (available for all standard infantry squads, command squads, veteran squads, orgryns, storm troopers, psyker battle squads and several character types.)
whereas for a Valkyrie you simply need to make sure you have enough Valkyries to transport your units. (as they are 1-3 per Fast Attack choice you can have a maximum of nine in any standard or tournament army.) Using Veteran squads, Storm Troopers and a Company command squad you can easily do this.
But once on the battlefield any unit can hop into any transport so if you had say 12 squads and 3 valkyries you could shuttle the squads around the table using the valkyries on an as-needs basis.
